Rome, Italy!!

Above is the ancient monument, the Colosseum.

Rome, Italy! Rome is over 2,700 years old and has become one of the most popular cities in the world! Rome is full of history, with an enormous amount of spectacular ancient Roman monuments located here, including Vatican City, the Forum - from where Julius Caesar once governed ancient Rome, the Colosseum, and the ruins of the Circus Maximus - where if you use your imagination, you can picture 200,000 spectators cheering at gladiator fights and other barbaric sporting events. There are also a large number of museums in Rome, boasting so truly world famous paintings and sculptures done by many historic artists. Although this is a spreading city, many of the most visited attractions reside in the central area. And, as you probably know, Italy is known for it's food. Enjoy many delicious meals at restaurants that range from large to small and company owned to family owned. Many favorite dishes come from Rome. One of these is the fettuccine Alfredo. In 1908, Alfredo di Lelio, a small restaurateur and chef, living above his small Rome restaurant with his pregnant wife, created Fettuccine Alfredo to tempt the palate of his pregnant wife who had lost her appetite and was becoming weaker. Alfredo decided that he would invent a dish that his wife could not resist. His wife loved it and legend says she cleaned her plate and a short time later, Alfredo II was born to the music of customers downstairs in the restaurant, all crying for his new irresistible dish.
