Above is Saint Malo, France.
Saint-Malo during the Middle Ages was a fortified island at the mouth of the Rance Rover, controlling not only the estuary but the open sea beyond. The promontory fort of Aleth, south of the modern centre in what is now the Saint-Servan district, commanded approaches to the Rance even before the Romans, but modern Saint-Malo traces its origins to a Monastic settlement founded by Saint Aaron and Saint Brendan early in the 6th century. Its name is derived from a man said to have been a follower of Brendan, Saint Malo.Saint-Malo had a tradition of asserting its autonomy in dealings with the French authorities and even with the local Breton authorities. From 1490–1493, Saint-Malo declared itself to be an independent republic, taking the motto "not French, not Breton, but Malouins".Saint-Malo became notorious as the home of the corsairs, French privateers and sometimes pirates. The corsairs of Saint-Malo not only forced English ships passing up the Channel to pay tribute, but also brought wealth from further afield. Jacques Cartier who sailed the Saint Lawrence River and visited the sites of Quebec City and Montral – and is thus credited as the discoverer of Canada, lived in and sailed from Saint-Malo, as did the first colonists to settle the Falklands – hence the islands' French name Îles Malouines, which gave rise to the Spanish name Islas Malvinas. In 1758 the Raid on Saint Malo saw a British expedition land intending to capture the town. However the British made no attempt on St Malo, and instead occupied the nearby town of St Servan where they destroyed 30 privateers before departing. The commune of Saint-Servan was merged, together with parame, and became the commune of Saint-Malo in 1967.Saint Malo was the site of an Anglo-French summit in 1998 which led to a significant agreement regarding European Defense Policy.

Mexico City, Mexico
You will need more than one vacation to fully enjoy the many activities available in the worlds largest city. México City is the cultural center of México and is home to a seemingly endless array of cultural activities. An entire vacation could be devoted strictly to the more than one hundred museums, and you would probably still not have time to visit them all. The floating gardens of Xochimilco are an attraction that has been in operation since Aztec times. The Zócalo (main square) and historic center are not to be missed and are a good starting place for deciding your itinerary, as there are plenty of things to do and see in a relatively small area. Chapultepec Park, (the world's largest park within a city) is home to many attractions and should be on your must do list, especially if you have any youngsters with you. There is always some sort of free entertainment going on, such as concerts, magic shows and mime troupes. If you can imagine it; it is probably happening somewhere in México City. The nightlife in the capital is second to none and provides an enormous variety of entertainment. Ballet, opera, folkloric shows and theatres. Live Cuban music and the tropical salsa clubs always seem to be a big draw, for locals as well as visitors. Mexico city is packed with cutlture and fun activities! Enjoy Mexico City, Mexico! This post is linked to Cooking Classics and you can visit that blog to learn about rice and beans, a traditional Mexican dish! You can get to cooking classics by clicking here.

Amsterdam, Netherlands
Amsterdam, Netherelands! The Anne Frank House is a museum with a story. It's situated in the center of Amsterdam and holds the hiding place where Anne Frank wrote her famous diary during World War II.
Anne Frank was a normal girl in exceptional circumstances. For more than two years she described the events of her daily life in hiding in her diary. Amsterdam has many museums as well. The RMO is Holland’s national archaeological museum, and is a great experience for young and old! Not only are the exhibitions in the museum a sight for sore eyes, the building itself is well worth a visit. The museum is located in an old mansion and almshouse, a monumental building on stately Rapenburg in Leiden.
The museum was founded by King William I in 1818, and manages collections of archaeological artefacts from cultures that have been pivotal for today’s civilization. The museum has Dutch archaeological items from prehistoric times until the late Middle Ages. The RMO is the place to go if you want to learn more about the history of Holland. If you visit with children, they can enjoy the special search through the museum. Amsterdam has many other attractions as well. Enjoy Amsterdam, Netherlands!

Rome, Italy!!
Above is the ancient monument, the Colosseum.
Rome, Italy! Rome is over 2,700 years old and has become one of the most popular cities in the world! Rome is full of history, with an enormous amount of spectacular ancient Roman monuments located here, including Vatican City, the Forum - from where Julius Caesar once governed ancient Rome, the Colosseum, and the ruins of the Circus Maximus - where if you use your imagination, you can picture 200,000 spectators cheering at gladiator fights and other barbaric sporting events. There are also a large number of museums in Rome, boasting so truly world famous paintings and sculptures done by many historic artists. Although this is a spreading city, many of the most visited attractions reside in the central area. And, as you probably know, Italy is known for it's food. Enjoy many delicious meals at restaurants that range from large to small and company owned to family owned. Many favorite dishes come from Rome. One of these is the fettuccine Alfredo. In 1908, Alfredo di Lelio, a small restaurateur and chef, living above his small Rome restaurant with his pregnant wife, created Fettuccine Alfredo to tempt the palate of his pregnant wife who had lost her appetite and was becoming weaker. Alfredo decided that he would invent a dish that his wife could not resist. His wife loved it and legend says she cleaned her plate and a short time later, Alfredo II was born to the music of customers downstairs in the restaurant, all crying for his new irresistible dish. Hawaii!!
Hawaii!!The latest information from my survey says that 3 out of 5 people surveyed have chosen Hawaii as a place to go! Hawaii is home to one of the world's most active volcanoes and the world's tallest sea mountain. Birthplace of modern surfing, the hula and Hawaii regional cruisine. Former seat of a royal kingdom and home to the only royal palace on US soil! Hawaii is one of the youngest geological formations in the world and the youngest state of the union. But perhaps Hawaii's most unique feature is its aloha spirit: the warmth of Hawaii's people that wonderfully complements the Islands' perfect temperatures. Salt Lake City, Utah
Above is the Salt Lake City Temple.
I have had to re-do the Salt Lake City blog do to it being lost when blogger went down.
Temple Square in Salt Lake City, is Utah's most popular tourist destination. Part of its appeal lies in its accessibility: three city blocks in downtown Salt Lake City contain nearly 20 attractions related to Mormon pioneer history and genealogy, including the Salt Lake Temple, the Tabernacle, and the Family History Library. This means that visitors can see all or most of these attractions in a short period of time. This building is a worldwide icon of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the heart of Temple Square. The massive granite edifice was constructed in a neo-gothic style over the course of an astounding 40-year period between 1853 and 1893; the pioneers who settled the valley sacrificed both time and material goods to the building of the temple, which stands as a testament to their faith and devotion. Utah rivers offer some of the world's best white water rafting. The Green and Colorado Rivers cut across Utah providing all levels of rafting excitement with rapids from Class I to Class V. Relax, enjoy the scenery and stage water fights on easy, flatwater sections like Fisher Towers or Labyrinth Canyon. Also, Utah offers great opportunities for canoeing and kayaking. With Five National Parks and Monument Valley, Utah is America's national parks capital. These national parks are located close together, allowing visitors to experience them all in one trip. Whether you choose to visit just one or two, or swing through them all, your trip is certain to be unforgettable! There are also great canyons that offer hiking and biking. You may even want to try the horseback riding! Utah is a state you can get close to nature. This state has opportunities for anyone of any age.

Norway
Norway is a long and mostly narrow country, with great variations between its regions. The most spectacular fjords are in the west, the clearest traces of medieval times are to be found in central Norway, while the midnight sun is in the north. In Northern Norway, the sun never sets during the summer months. Go on a midnight sun cruise, join a safari or play golf in the middle of the night. Along parts of the coastline, the sea penetrates deep into the mountain wilderness and forms the world-famous Norwegian fjords. You can even go to North Cape in Finnmark to see the northern lights! Norway is a great county with many attractions that are suitable for anyone at any age.
Survey
Check out my survey on the bottom of my blog page! It asks what continent are you most interested in to travel to. Please vote! Thanks!
